Loved what Laura Berman Fortgang wrote today on HuffPost; as she looks toward celebrating her 50th birthday. She talks about milestones in our lives and how so often they become sources of suffering. We think we “should have done” such and such by a certain age. And we see that we failed. And we feel bad.
One of the toughest times in my life… was due to what I thought should happen by the time I was 30; and I speak to people every week, young and old, who lament that they haven’t met certain milestones. Who made these milestones up, anyway?! … The passage of time is inevitable. What you do with that time is what matters, and to feel fully alive, you have to use all you have at any given time.
Now to tear myself away from watching Mad Men (just discovered it after all this time and have been addictively watching on Netflix) and do what I have always wanted to do with my life!
